1. Drink in Moderation

Drink in moderation and you will be fine. Have a few cigars, and don’t go crazy on the drinks. The best way to avoid a hangover is to ease up on the drinks. Have a great time, relax with friends, and be mindful of the amount of drinks you have consumed.

2. Drink More..Water!

After “breaking the seal”, you are going to lose a lot of liquid. Alcohol acts as a diuretic and it can cause dehydration. Drinking plenty of water will help combat the effects of the alcohol and keep you hydrated. Grab a few glasses and re-hydrate throughout the night. You will thank yourself later.

3. Consume Food While You Drink

Consuming food while you drink will slow the absorption of alcohol. Eating food while drinking allows the body more time to metabolize the alcohol, and your BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) will not spike as high as if you did not consume food. So, order yourself a burger, steak, or some wings.

4. Avoid Carbonation

carbonation

Studies have shown that carbonation mixed with alcohol increases the delivery of alcohol through the blood stream. This causes you to get drunk quicker, the body has less time to metabolize the drinks, and it intensifies the effects of the alcohol. Stay away from the bubbles and order something a little more enjoyable.

5. Splurge on Light-Colored Drinks..You Get What You Pay For!

When it comes to alcohol; often you get what you pay for. Congeners (toxins in alcohol) are believed to contribute to the symptoms of a hangover. Lighter-colored liquors (vodka, tequila, etc.) are said to have less congeners than darker liquor. Also, most top shelf liquor contains less congeners than the value brands. Bring your cash, make it a great night, and stick to the clean liquor.
