Thick Ash Poll: How long do you let your cigars rest before smoking?

We buy a lot of cigars from a lot of different retailers, and in our continuous search for cigars we have noticed that each humidor we walk into or open is different from the last. So, whether we are shopping at our favorite brick and mortars or we are receiving cigars by mail we always think about how long we will rest our sacred smokes.

We love to rest our cigars in our humidors for a bit until they are at our preferred relative humidity level. Everyone has their preference on resting times, and some smokers prefer to smoke them right off of the shelves. This has us asking the age old question, how long do you let your cigars rest before smoking them? Vote in this month’s Thick Ash poll, and tell us what you think by leaving a comment.

  1. Good day BOTL, I usually let them rest for a month or more. Depending on the cigar I will give one month or more depending on availability. Some like Opus X I give six months to a good year.
